About me:
My name is Ms. McQueen I will be in charge of the new Grade 9 Boarding Program this year. The returning boarders know me from last year as I was their Grade 8 Advisor. I teach Learning Resource and Communication Skills at the Middle School and will be teaching a Planning 10 class at the Senior School. I also do Academic Coaching outside of SMUS focusing on Grade 6 Math, Science and English.
Notes about Grade 9 Boarding Life:

- All Grade 8, 9 &10 students are required to sign in for breakfast.
- Sign in prior to 7:50
- Hot Breakfast closes at 7:50am for Grade 8, 9 & 10 students
School Routines

- Senior school students can ask Mr. Driscoll or Mrs. Zapantis
- Each grade 9 has a locker at the Senior School and access to a gym locker, (own lock must be purchased from the Campus shop).
Laundry
- Each boarding student has a cubby in the Laundry room located under Harvey/Symons common room.
- Each student is provided a Laundry bag.
- Students can drop their Laundry off anytime after 7:30 am until 4pm.
- It is typically a 24 hour turnaround. However there are times that if it is dropped off in the am it may be ready by the afternoon.
- It is already paid for in their fees and is more environmentally friendly as these machines are high capacity and efficiency.
- Know how to turn off the water to their toilet to avoid excess flooding should a blockage occur.
- Rooms are to be cleaned each week, (cleaning toilets, sinks, showers and floor).
- Students should report any required repairs immediately to a houseparent, so maintenance can be contacted.
Missing Classes
- Any unexcused absence during the school day = Friday Night Prep and no off campus leave the day of missed class.
- Students who miss a class because they were in the Health Centre for illness are not permitted leave for that day.
- Multiple absences or a pattern will result in more significant consequences and a meeting with Mr. Anderson.
Boarding Houses during the day
- Grade 10, 11 and 12 students are permitted to return to their houses during prep blocks and to change for PE.
- Boarding students are not permitted to be in any boarding houses that is not their own during the day without permission from a houseparent and without being escorted by a member of that house.
- Should a student be found unaccompanied in a boarding house they will be subject to discipline. Typically this would be a Friday night Gating
- Should a student and their host be found in the boarding house without permission both the visiting student and host will be subject to discipline.
- Day students are also not permitted to be in the house.
- Guests are welcome to wait in the foyer for their friends.
Food delivery onto campus
- Students are not permitted to order food delivery to campus between 6pm Sunday evening through to Friday afternoon.
- The only exception is if they have received permission from a houseparent because they missed dinner for a legitimate reason.
